Short answer

Parkland schools are operated by Broward County Public Schools, which earned a state A grade for 2025-26. Public schools with Parkland addresses are Heron Heights, Park Trails and Riverglades elementaries, Westglades Middle and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High. Assignment is by address, and some Parkland homes are zoned to Coral Springs schools, so check Find My School.

Parkland schools are public schools run by Broward County Public Schools: the city has no district of its own. Five public schools have Parkland addresses: Heron Heights, Park Trails and Riverglades elementaries, Westglades Middle and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High. Which one a child attends depends on the exact street address, so every buyer should check the assigned school with the district's Find My School tool before signing a contract.

Think of a school zone as an invisible property line. It doesn't appear on the survey or in the listing photos, yet it shapes who wants the house, how fast it sells and what it resells for later. Two homes a few streets apart in Parkland can sit on opposite sides of that line.

This guide covers who runs the schools, how to verify an address, what choice options exist and how family demand shows up in Parkland's home prices as of September 2026.

Who runs Parkland's public schools?

Broward County Public Schools operates every public school in Parkland, according to the City of Parkland. The county school board, not City Hall, sets attendance boundaries and handles enrollment.

At the district level, the Florida Department of Education graded Broward County Public Schools an A for 2025-26, the district's third A in a row. That grade describes the whole district, not any single campus. For an individual school's grade, use the state's official lookup at schoolgrades.fldoe.org rather than a listing description or a neighbor's memory.

Parkland sits in Broward, right next to Palm Beach County. If you are also looking at Boca Raton or Delray Beach, those homes fall under a different district, the School District of Palm Beach County. Our guide to how school zones work in Broward and Palm Beach explains the differences.

Which public schools serve Parkland addresses?

Five Broward public schools have Parkland addresses, but a Parkland mailing address does not guarantee a Parkland school. The city itself notes that some Parkland addresses may be zoned to schools in neighboring Coral Springs.

  • Elementary: Heron Heights Elementary, Park Trails Elementary and Riverglades Elementary
  • Middle: Westglades Middle
  • High: Marjory Stoneman Douglas High

Neighborhood names don't settle the question either. Communities such as Heron Bay, MiraLago and Pine Tree Estates are well-known Parkland addresses, but assignment follows boundary lines drawn by the district, not by a subdivision's marketing. We don't rank these schools; the right fit depends on your child, and official data plus a campus visit will tell you more than any list.

How do you check the assigned school for a specific home?

Enter the full property address into Broward's Find My School tool, and do it before you sign. It takes a few minutes and gives you the district's own answer.

  1. Copy the exact street address from the listing, including any unit number.
  2. Run it through Find My School and note the elementary, middle and high school it returns.
  3. Look up each school's latest grade on the FDOE school grades site.
  4. If the result looks surprising, or the home sits near a boundary, email the district at boundaries@browardschools.com and ask.
  5. Save a dated screenshot. Boundaries can change over time, and you'll want a record of what you checked.

If school assignment is a deal-breaker, do this before your offer, not during the inspection period. A contract deadline is a poor time to discover the home is zoned somewhere you didn't expect.

What magnet, choice and private options are there?

Your zoned school is the default, not the only option. Broward runs a School Choice application for magnet programs, innovative programs, Nova schools and reassignment requests.

The application window for the 2026-27 school year opened on November 3, 2025. Dates shift each year, so check the district's School Choice page for the next window and the rules on how seats are assigned. Seats in popular programs can be limited, so treat a choice placement as a possibility, not a plan.

Florida also offers statewide scholarships. Since July 1, 2023, a 2023 law (HB 1) has made every K-12-eligible student eligible for the Florida Tax Credit and Family Empowerment scholarships, with priority for lower-income households. Families weighing private schools around Parkland should read the FDOE scholarship pages to see what the funds can be used for.

How does school demand affect Parkland home prices?

Parkland is the most expensive of the five cities we cover, and its homes sell fastest. Redfin's median sale price for Parkland was $1,179,438 in September 2026, up 10.7% from a year earlier, with a median of 57 days on market.

Schools are not the only reason; space and a quieter pace matter too. But family demand is part of why Parkland homes move quickly at prices well above nearby coastal cities. Redfin's figures are three-month medians for all home types, so treat them as a rough guide.

CityMedian sale price (Sept 2026)Change vs. a year earlierMedian days on market
Parkland$1,179,438+10.7%57
Boca Raton$774,631+8.3%78
Pompano Beach$384,817+9.9%101

What the median Parkland home costs per month

Here is a worked example for a house at Parkland's median price with 20% down and a 30-year loan at 7.00%. Rates were around 7% in October 2026, and Freddie Mac's 30-year average was 7.40% for the week of Oct 15, 2026, so your quote may be higher. Our calculator assumes a 1.39% property tax rate for Parkland, about $5,400 a year for house insurance and about $220 a month in HOA dues.

ItemMonthly amount
Principal and interest on a $943,550 loan$6,277
Property tax (1.39% of $1,179,438)$1,366
Homeowners insurance$450
HOA dues$220
Total$8,314

The total uses unrounded figures, so the rows add up to a dollar less. Two details matter. A $943,550 loan is above the 2026 conforming loan limit of $832,750 set by the FHFA, so it would be priced as a larger, non-conforming loan. And after a sale, Florida reassesses the home at market value, so your tax bill can be far higher than the seller's; our homestead and property tax guide explains why. What else makes Parkland work for families?

Parkland is a smaller city, with about 39,186 residents in 2025, compared with roughly 101,582 in Boca Raton. Its communities include Heron Bay, MiraLago and Pine Tree Estates, and some areas have an equestrian, ranch-style character with more room between homes.

  • Commuting: Parkland has no Tri-Rail station; the nearest are in Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton. The Sawgrass Expressway and Florida's Turnpike are nearby.
  • Building code: Broward is one of only two counties, with Miami-Dade, in the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone.
  • Taxes: Parkland's city operating millage was 4.2979 for the 2025 tax year, before school, county and special-district levies are added.
